Value of the SIIM Annual Meeting

It’s the focal point for industry leaders - new and established, large and small - to network with each other and with their most expert users. This allows the group to hash out new solutions and chart courses that move beyond traditional medical imaging IT. That’s the definition of innovation.

Philadelphia Regional Meeting Recap

EHR is the Easy Part?

A new EHR implementation is not a divorce, it's a brain transplant. It sucks the air out of the room. Even as that occurs, however, look now beyond EHR implementation to the next phases of IT needs, because that is where you find the ability to manage successfully a capitated risk ACO contract. John Hamalka, a required-reading blog in health care IT, describes this next phase as ACO=HIE+analytics.

Have you ever thought that archiving is about Just a Bunch Of Disks? It’s an easy assumption, and an incorrect one. Archiving is much more complex than JBOD, and is not about disks alone. Archiving includes disks, tapes, solid state storage, and much more. Archiving has a rich history, a history of technology and strategies. The challenge of archiving is that it is not only about the storage medium, but also about how data is managed.
